#1-Approval of Minutes

Minutes of 1/26/10.

Minutes of 1/26/10 approved with no corrections. Updated Minutes will be downloaded to both the MES and SCC websites, but will not be downloaded to the official DOE SCC website.

#2-Role Group Reports

Administration: 

Complex Area Meeting (2/9/10)

•       Need to adjust Financial Plan (will probably need to make .5% cut)

PTO planning to pay someone to operate Computer Lab

2:00-5:30pm – will have strict rules and only to access computers if have assignments to be completed

Traffic (Mr. Ginlack and J. Nakasone) looking at traffic problem at back area drop-off (near pool)

Certificated: 

•       Furlough Friday (2/12/10)

•       Fun Run  - Feb 19, 2010

•       School Quality Survey sent out (2/8-2/9)

Classified: 

•       No report 

Students. 

•       Made cards for Tripler Hospital Veterans for Valentine’s Day (K-6 Grades)

•       Spring Door Decoration Contest

•       School Store to open in March 2010

Community. 

•       Legislature in Session – encourage testimony for any issues of concern (can be via email, letter, or personal testimony at hearings) – Can contact Clayton Tom if have any questions on legislative process

•       Tripler Hospital - Two guard posts now open – traffic seems better – if have any concerns regarding traffic, call Rep. Lynn Finnegan

Parents. 

•       Email about A+ quiet area

•       Need to set up a box for nominations for SCC Parent Representative in office

•       Principal’s Update – Mr. Ginlack will talk to S.Okumura to put in update in PCNC Bulletin

A quorum was present for decision making. Meeting called to order by Chairperson: T. Chinen.

#3- Old Business

A+ Update (K. Gushikuma)

K. Gushikuma needed to talk to District, b/c A+ is currently in deficit of funding. Unfortunately District does not have extra money to fund additional staffing.

Suggested alternatives for parents who need place for students to study:

•       Could ask teacher if student could study in the classroom afterschool. Several teachers hold students afterschool to catch up on work.

•       K. Gushikuma is willing to have volunteers (older than 18 years) to volunteer tutoring during A+. Need to contact A+ and she will need to interview.
